New Delhi :The Markazi Majlis-e Aamla (Central Working Committee) of the All India Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat (AIMMM), umbrella body of Indian Muslim organisations and eminent personalities, held its second meeting of the year 2013 here today at it's central office. The meeting discussed milli, national and organisational matters.
The trigger-happy armed forces, protected by the notorious AFPSA, continue their killing spree in various places in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Their latest victims are defenceless people in Shopian.
The AIMMM feels that the black law called AFPSA is a root cause of this goon-like behaviour by the soldiers in uniform. This law should be repealed without any further delay and the army should be relocated from inhabited areas of the state to the borders where it belongs. The AIMMM also demands the urgent disbanding of the so-called “Village Defence Committees” which are unconstitutional and illegal and show the biased approach of the powers that be in that this strategy has been used to arm a certain community which is terrorizing others using arms supplied by the state. The Muslim minority in Zanskar-Padam, located in Ladakh region at a distance of 190 kms from Srinagar, is facing social and commercial boycott by the Buddhist majority since 23 September last year. It all started with the conversion to Islam of four Buddhist families after which Buddhists attacked Muslims, looted and burnt their shops and homes injuring about a hundred persons. The J&K state government has failed to take any decisive action to end this boycott and rein in the Buddhist aggression. The AIMMM appeals to the J&K state government to urgently solve this problem and if need be cancel the autonomous status given to Ladakh which is being misused to the point of driving away Muslims from their ancestral homes.
