Microsoft founder and philanthropist Bill Gates is the most admired person on Earth, while retired cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is fifth on the list of the 30 most admired people, compiled from 13 countries.
The survey 'world's most admired people' was conducted by YouGov for The Times, in a survey sample of almost 14,000 people in the US, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, India, China, Australia, Pakistan, Brazil, Egypt, Nigeria and Indonesia.
Gates, 58, was followed by US President Barack Obama and Russian President (and the most powerful man on the planet, according to Forbes) Vladimir Putin. Pope Francis was fourth on the list, while Chinese President Xi Jinping claimed the sixth spot.
The top ten list also featured four Indians - Sachin, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi (7th), Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan (9th) and former President Abdul Kalam (10th).
There were three more Indian nationals who created headlines in 2013 and became part of the 30 most admired people list - anti-graft social crusader Anna Hazare (14th) and Aam Aadmi Party president and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal (18th), along with business tycoon Ratan Tata (30th).
Only six women were among the most admired personalities, with Queen Elizabeth (17th), actress Angelina Jolie (19th), famous US talk show host Oprah Winfrey (20th), two-time German Chancellor Angela Merkel (26th), former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (27th) and Chinese contemporary folk singer Peng Liyuan (28th).
Apart from Sachin, other sportsmen who made it to the list are Argentine footballer Lionel Messi (15th), NBA icon Michael Jordon (21) and Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo (22)
