ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Friday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad and discussed various matters pertaining to national security, media reported.
The appointment of a new Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee came under discussion during the meeting, sources said, adding that a name for the post is likely to be announced in next couple of days as serving CJCSC General Khalid Shameem Wynne is retiring on Oct 8th.
The two high-ups also exchanged views over PM’s upcoming visit to the United State, border situation along the Line of Control, peace talks with Taliban and Pak Army’s professional matters, sources said.
The prime minister was briefed over the country's nuclear and missile programs.
Sharif also reviewed the performance of the atomic plant.
